Our verdict

Being tested. An editor is using Adobe Podcast hands-on; the verdict and score appear here once they sign it off.

What it does

Adobe Podcast is a set of tools in your browser for recording and improving speech. Its best-known tool, Enhance Speech, takes a recording made on a phone or laptop and removes echo and background noise so it sounds as if it was recorded in a studio.

It also includes a microphone check and tools for recording and editing. It suits podcasters, video makers and anyone recording their voice.

Why use it

  • Enhance Speech removes echo and background noise in one step.
  • It runs in your browser, with nothing to install.
  • A microphone check helps you set up before you record.

How it works

  1. Go to podcast.adobe.com and sign in with an Adobe account.
  2. Open Enhance Speech and upload a recording.
  3. Wait for it to process, then compare it with the original.
  4. Download the improved version.

How hard is it to use?

Beginner Easy to start. You need an account, not any technical know-how.

Upload a file and download a better one, which is why we rate it Beginner.

What it costs

Free plan; paid plans. Free with an Adobe account, with limits on file length and daily use. Premium access, part of Adobe’s Firefly Pro plan, raises the limits and adds video files and bulk uploads.

Prices change often, so check Adobe Podcast’s own site before you pay.

Watch out for

  • A very poor recording can come out sounding artificial, so listen before you publish.
  • It is made for speech, not music: it can strip out other sounds you want to keep.

Your data

Check Adobe’s privacy settings and terms for how uploaded recordings are stored and whether they are used to improve its products.

We haven’t confirmed that Adobe Podcast can keep your data in the UK, so check where it keeps your data before you share anything private or about other people.
