What it does

Notion AI is built into Notion, the workspace for notes, documents and wikis. It writes and edits inside your pages, summarises long documents and answers questions using everything in your workspace.

It is most useful when your team’s knowledge already lives in Notion.

Why use it

• Ask questions across your whole workspace and get answers with sources.
• Summarise meeting notes and long pages in a click.
• Draft and edit without leaving the page you are working on.
• Fills database fields automatically, such as summaries and tags.

How it works

1. Use Notion as usual, on the web or in the app.
2. Press the AI shortcut on any page, or open the AI chat.
3. Ask it to write, edit or summarise, or to find something in your workspace.
4. Review the result and keep, edit or discard it.

How hard is it to use?

Intermediate Some set-up, or a little practice, to get good results.

Easy if you already use Notion. If you don’t, learning Notion itself is the bigger job.

What it costs

Paid plans. AI features come with Notion’s paid business plans, with limited trials on lower plans.

Prices change often, so check Notion AI’s own site before you pay.

Watch out for

• Answers are only as good as your workspace. Out-of-date pages give out-of-date answers.
• Check what is included on your plan before relying on it.

Your data

Notion says customer data isn’t used to train AI models. Workspace permissions still apply, so the AI only sees what you can see.

Notion AI doesn’t offer UK data storage, so check where it keeps your data before you share anything private or about other people.
