Our verdict
Being tested. An editor is using Trint hands-on; the verdict and score appear here once they sign it off.
What it does
Trint turns recordings into text. Upload an interview, meeting or video and it produces a transcript in an editor that plays the audio from any word you click, so you can check and correct it quickly.
It was started by a former television news reporter, and newsrooms are among its main customers. You can search your transcripts, pull out quotes and share them with your team.
Why use it
- Every word links to the audio, so checking quotes is quick.
- It transcribes many languages.
- Search across all your transcripts to find what someone said.
- It is built with journalists in mind, where accurate quotes matter.
How it works
- Start a free trial on the Trint website.
- Upload a recording.
- Wait for the transcript, then play the audio to check names and quotes.
- Correct any mistakes in the editor.
- Export the transcript or share it with your team.
How hard is it to use?
Beginner Easy to start. You need an account, not any technical know-how.
Upload a file and read the result, which is why we rate it Beginner. Checking quotes still takes care.
What it costs
Paid plans; free trial. Paid plans for individuals and teams. A seven-day free trial of the Advanced plan transcribes the first few minutes of up to three files, with no card needed.
Prices change often, so check Trint’s own site before you pay.
Watch out for
- Check names, numbers and quotes against the audio before you publish them.
- Get agreement before recording people, and keep recordings only as long as you need them.
Your data
Recordings often hold personal data. Check Trint’s privacy and security pages for where your files are stored and how long they are kept.
We haven’t confirmed that Trint can keep your data in the UK, so check where it keeps your data before you share anything private or about other people.
