What it does
Recraft is an AI image tool built for design work. It makes illustrations, icons, mock-ups and vector graphics (images that scale to any size without blurring), and you can set a style, including your brand colours, so a whole set of images matches.
It suits designers and marketers who need many images in one consistent look.
Why use it
- It makes vector graphics you can edit and scale.
- Styles keep a set of images consistent.
- It is useful for icons, illustrations and mock-ups.
How it works
- Sign up on the Recraft website.
- Choose the kind of image, such as an icon or an illustration.
- Set a style or brand colours, then describe the image.
- Edit the result and export it, including as a vector file.
How hard is it to use?
Intermediate Some set-up, or a little practice, to get good results.
You can make an image quickly, but getting a consistent set takes some design sense, which is why we rate it Intermediate.
What it costs
Free plan; paid plans. A free plan with daily credits, but images made on it are public, owned by Recraft and not for commercial use. Paid plans give you ownership and commercial rights, keep your images private and add more credits.
Prices change often, so check Recraft’s own site before you pay.
Watch out for
- Images made on the free plan belong to Recraft and can’t be used commercially, so use a paid plan for business work.
- Vector exports can need tidying in a design app.
Your data
On the free plan your images are public in its community gallery; paid plans keep them private. Check Recraft’s terms for how your prompts and uploads are used.
We haven’t confirmed that Recraft can keep your data in the UK, so check where it keeps your data before you share anything private or about other people.
