Our verdict
Being tested. An editor is using Klaviyo hands-on; the verdict and score appear here once they sign it off.
What it does
Klaviyo is email and text message marketing built for online shops. It connects to platforms such as Shopify and uses what customers have browsed and bought, so you can send automated messages such as abandoned basket reminders and product recommendations. Its AI, K:AI, writes copy and subject lines, builds audiences from a plain-English description and predicts things such as when a customer will next order.
It suits online shops that want to sell more to the customers they already have.
Why use it
- It uses your shop’s data to send the right message to the right people.
- Ready-made automations, such as abandoned basket emails.
- Email and text messages from one place.
How it works
- Sign up and connect your online shop.
- Set up a sign-up form, and import subscribers who agreed to marketing.
- Switch on ready-made automations, such as a welcome series.
- Send campaigns, then check which ones led to sales.
How hard is it to use?
Intermediate Some set-up, or a little practice, to get good results.
The basics are guided, but getting the most from its data takes learning, which is why we rate it Intermediate.
What it costs
Free plan; paid plans. A free plan for small lists, with a monthly limit on emails and a few text message credits. Paid plans are priced by your number of contacts, with text messages bought as credits.
Prices change often, so check Klaviyo’s own site before you pay.
Watch out for
- Costs rise quickly as your list grows.
- Marketing emails and texts need people’s agreement under UK rules.
